OK Gramma, Dance!

OK Gramma, Dance!

Sheila was amazingly involved in her grandchildren's lives, and went to great lengths to develop strong relationships with all 17 of them.

Sue writes about her daughter, Megan.

As a little girl, Megan was always a little jealous of Gram when she came to visit. I don't think she liked my focus being diverted. She was famous for saying things like,

"I know, let's all go on a picnic, but not Gramma!"

Being the good sport she was, Mom just took it all in stride and continued to shower Meg with attention. One time when Meg was about four, we were visiting Gram for Andy's christening in NJ and there were a lot of people staying in Mom's little cape house. Meg (who would go to great lengths to get access to snack food) convinced Gramma that she wanted to put on a show for all the visiting relatives.

She and Gramma spent the day making tickets and buying snacks, creating a stage of sorts and gathering everyone into the living room.

When the big moment arrived for Meg's show to begin, Meg promptly settled herself onto the couch with her own bowl of chips and announced,

"OK Gramma, Dance!"

And she did.
