Jack Walsh, the cool cousin
Jack Walsh is Sheila's eldest nephew, and I always thought of him as the "cool cousin" growing up. He was a superstar athlete, old enough to drink beer, and had girlfriends. He was also old enough that our father would frequently play "quarters" with Jack, and crow about how he won his allowance. I do not think Sheila ever approved of this gambling but there was always a lot of laughs.
Sheila was extremely close to all her relatives and Jack held a very special place in her life. He kindly sent these wonderful thoughts and asked me to post them.

Dear Ern, Susie, Doug, Sally and Will,
We all were blessed to have such an exceptional woman in our lives. How proud she was of you, her finest ever investments ! How justifiably proud you all were of her . What talent, humor, faith, grit, common sense, decency and generosity of spirit she exhibited, improving the life experience and quality of everyone she touched. What a legacy of happiness and example for your children. How few have such a devoted Mom and Grandmother to guide them and to love them so.
I will remember her always with joy and abiding respect and gratitude for everything she did for me.
She lived by a motto we all might consider...
"Do what thy personhood bids thee do;
From none but self expect applause.
She noblest lives and noblest is remembered
Who keeps her self-made laws."
I hope she has lots of quarters with her as Doug has been practicing. With love to you all.
Jack
